Ciara is a research officer working on broad acre plant pathology in the northern Western Australian wheatbelt since 2002. She is based in Geraldton, WA. Ciara is funded by the GRDC to conduct field research, laboratory experiments and extension on cereal, lupin and canola foliar diseases with a particular focus on sclerotinia stem rot in canola. In the lab she is researching factors that affect the germination of sclerotinia sclerotes and in the field is extending her research to include sclerotinia stem rot in lupins.
Ciara has extensive experience with managing yellow spot, septoria nodorum blotch, powdery mildew and leaf rust in wheat, and sclerotinia stem rot in canola. She has a passion for effectively extending information to industry and is involved in the development of plant pathology publications and web content for DPIRD.
