Rob is the Chair of the GRDC Crop Nutrition Community of Practice. He now undertakes national and international agricultural consultancies after retiring as the IPNI Regional Director for Australia and New Zealand and has nearly 30 years’ experience lecturing and researching in agronomy. He has taught at the University of Melbourne, and has given a wide range of formal and informal training programs for students, growers, advisors and researchers. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology, the Australian Society of Soil Science, the Australian Society of Agronomy and the Australian Soil and Plant Analysis Council.
Rob maintains international links through work in Africa, Southeast Asia and East Asia, and is a member of the American Society of Agronomy, the Soil Science Society of America and the Crop Improvement Society of India. He holds the position of an Associate Professor (Honorary) in the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences in The University of Melbourne where he assists with research and graduate student supervision. He led projects on climate change, nutrition, agronomy, alternative grain crops and farming systems. He also led a climate change project in China and has hosted scientists from India, China, the USA, Canada, Spain and Iran on visits to Australia, and visited and worked in Morocco, China, India and Canada.
